Last week brought snow, ice, rain, and loss of power all over Louisville. This is the second time this has happened to us this year (the first being shortly after Eli was born), and apparently it is the worst power outage in Louisville's history. Here's for being part of history! We packed up what felt like our entire home (thank you, Elijah Maxwell) and went to the Marshmans place. That name probably rings a bell because they helped us with the kitchen remodel. Dan and Shirley are kind and generous people. Jeff, their son and his wife and 2 kids are pretty great, too. Though we missed our house and the normalcy, it could not have been a better situation for us. Thank you Marshmans, all of you, for taking care of us. When we finally returned to our house, the temp. was around 35 degrees- we wouldn't have made it :)
We were out of power for 4 days, but it felt much longer than that, probably because we had no idea when power would be restored. We stopped by on Saturday to check the process and saw the glorious sight we had hoped for- power trucks on our street. And it just so happens that we had a dozen donuts to thank them for their work. Perfect.
On Sunday morning, we arrived home, safe and sound. Along with us came a cold especially for Eli. The doctor says he's going to be alright. And with that cold came the return of the "middle of the night" feeding. Eli has been sleeping 9 hours through the night! We're hoping that this sleep pattern is as temporary as his cold... The up side is that Eli has gone right back to sleep and also sleeps till about 7AM instead of 5AM. Any way you slice it, 9 hours straight of sleep is glorious.
Here's to a electrically powered, health restored, restful (?) week!
