We've been so busy enjoying time together as a family that we've neglected to update the blog in a while.
Here's a recap of the last few weeks:
Ben finished all of his assignments for the semester. Yeah! Though he was less than satisfied with his paper on Calvin's understanding of the Trinity, he managed to get a more than satisfactory grade. His Hebrew final started out miserably, until he figured out that he was looking at the book of Isaiah rather than the book he studied all semester: Jeremiah. (They are right beside each other! anyone could mistake them... right?) Just one more summer class, 2 Fall courses and Applied Ministry to go!
Eli is crawling. That's right, folks. We're not in Kansas anymore. Also, wWe've been to the pool twice now and he loves the water. Whether on land or in water, this little boy keeps moving! Along with crawling, Eli has two teeth and weathered that storm pretty well. His sleep was disrupted a bit the last month (or two?), which we can thank those teeth for, but he seems to be back on track now, sleeping 9-10 hours at night.
Sarah is loving the time with Ben and Eli that the end of the semester has brought! She is also childproofing the house now. Her favorite phrase to date is "no touch, Eli." This is the beginning of a new stage for us all- discipline and training. We have been impressed with the fact that Eli remembers things we've told him not to touch, his favorites being electrical cords that we've tried very hard to hide and the T.V. When he approaches them, as fast as his little legs can crawl, he always pauses before the final approach and at the sound of his name being called, looks at us. Sometimes he turns back, but not always. As we begin this phase of parenting, we are reminded that our Father disciplines us for our good and in so doing, makes us more like Christ. Our prayer is that Eli will see our discipline as pointing him to the Savior he needs.

It looks like Eli really likes the water. Glad to see you got to the pool.
