Dear Eli,
When you were born one year ago today, we were very surprised, but overjoyed to welcome you into our family. Over the next 5 weeks, you would undergo surgery and recovery in the hospital and we would be separated from you for that time other than our daily visits. What a difficult time! Yet, now, one year later, we can look back and see all of the ways that God perfectly ordained every moment of that time and has been good to us.
What a joy it has been to watch you change, learn and grow over this first year! You've learned to smile, laugh, babble, crawl, stand, shuffle, high-five, eat and finally now, cuddle. We are excited for all the new things you'll do and experience in your 2nd year!
Little man, we love you so much and count it a blessing to have YOU as our son. Happy 1st Birthday!

Children are definitely a blessing from the Lord. Our families have been so blessed by your birth. We look forward to watching you grow up and seeing what God has planned for your life. We love you Elijah Maxwell!
